Rare Natural Materials: Vegetable Ivory
Our smartie-similar buttons are manufactured from Tagua (“Ivory nut”). These are seeds from the Amazon area, which are so similar in colour and consistency to animal ivory that they are viewed as its vegetable counterpart.
The commercial interest in the Ivory nut protects the Taguales (“stone nut forests”) against deforestation and thus contributes indirectly to the protection of the rain forest.

Common Growth with our Producers
Safe, decent and fair conditions of work are basic conditions for a durable co-operation with our Peruvian suppliers. Our goal is it however much more to develop us further continuously and this together with our producers. We produce 100% in Peru, in order to create the added value in the country of origin of our cotton. And communicate regularly with Mariella, the owner of the small family business, which is responsible for the manufacturing of our high-quality baby clothing. We develop products together, optimize these and adapt them to the needs of our small customers.
Mama Ocllo pull-on shirts are sewn under safe, socially acceptable conditions of work in a small family-owned business in Lima, Peru´s capital. The sewers are fairly remunerated for their high-quality work and to enjoy the advantages of a social security.
